Getting started
How do I create an online quiz?
Create an account, add a ready-made question pack or write your own questions, and let Quiz Nights fill the rounds by category and difficulty. Start the quiz, show the code on the big screen – teams join on their phones and you run everything from your console. Building a quiz takes a few minutes.
Do I need to be technical to host a quiz?
No. The console has one button for each step: show the question, close answers, reveal the answer and show the leaderboard. Press the wrong one and you simply step back. If you can put a web page on a TV, you can run Quiz Nights.
What equipment do I need?
A laptop, tablet or phone to run the quiz from, and a screen everyone can see – a TV, projector or big screen with a web browser. Teams use their own phones. Everything needs an internet connection.
How long does a quiz night take?
That's up to you. A typical format is three rounds of ten questions, which usually takes an hour to an hour and a half with answers and leaderboards. Questions close when you say so, so the pace follows the room.
For players
Do players need to download an app?
No. Teams scan the QR code on the big screen or enter a six-character code at live.quiznights.se, pick a team name and they're in. No account and no personal details beyond the team name.
How many teams can take part?
As many as fit in the room. There is no limit on the number of teams on any plan.
Can we run a virtual quiz on Teams or Zoom?
Yes. Share the big screen in the meeting so everyone sees the questions, while each team answers on their own phone. It works just as well for a remote team as for a party with half the family joining online.
What happens if someone loses their connection?
The quiz carries on for everyone else. When the phone reconnects, the team is back in the same team on the right question, with nothing for you to do.
Is it suitable for children and families?
Yes. Choose easier questions or the starter packs, let a team share one phone, and pick a difficulty from easy to very hard.
The questions
Are there ready-made quiz questions and answers?
Yes – 3,000 questions in 100 premium packs, plus 80 free starter questions: from general knowledge, music and sport to flags, the 80s, true crime and space. Every question has the answer, and each premium pack has three rounds that get harder as you go.
Can I write my own questions?
Yes, on Pro, VIP and the single night. Write the question and the correct answer, choose a category and difficulty, and mix them freely with questions from the packs.
What types of questions are there?
Free text, multiple choice and closest-wins questions where the nearest number takes the point. Flag questions show the image on the big screen.
How are free-text answers marked?
Answers that are clearly right are ticked automatically, even with typos, capitals and accents. You confirm, can overturn a decision with one click, and the leaderboard updates instantly.
Will the same question come up again next time?
Not at the same venue. Every pub, company or group gets its own question history, and questions already used there are skipped when you build the next quiz.
Pricing and payment
How much does Quiz Nights cost?
Free covers one quiz night with 80 starter questions. A single night costs €15 including VAT and gives you everything in Pro for seven days. Pro is €25 a month and VIP €59 a month, excluding VAT.
What's the difference between Pro and VIP?
Both give you unlimited quiz nights and your own questions. On Pro you buy premium packs for €5 each (excluding VAT) and keep them for good. On VIP every premium pack is included.
Can I buy just one quiz night without a subscription?
Yes. The single night is a one-off €15 purchase for a birthday, office party or Christmas do. No subscription, nothing to cancel.
How do I pay, and do I get an invoice?
You pay by card or other local payment methods through Stripe. Every purchase comes with a VAT invoice, and businesses can add their VAT number at checkout.
How do I cancel my subscription?
From Plan & billing in the app. Your plan runs to the end of the period and then doesn't renew. There's no minimum term.
Security and privacy
What data do you store about players?
Only the team name and the team's answers during the quiz. Players don't create an account or give any personal details.
Can I show my company logo on the big screen?
Yes. Each client can have its own logo, colour and background, with more than twenty themes from Christmas and Halloween to Pub and Corporate.
